Veracity, The Next Generation

If you are familiar with Veracity, you’ve likely noticed that we’ve recently gone through some big changes. Even the CEO’s Corner has a new look and feel. Or, if you’re new to Veracity, you may have noticed the recent announcement of a new CEO. Either way, welcome to “Veracity, The Next Generation”.

After nearly 20 years at the helm, our founder, Galen Murdock, has taken the position of Board Chairman, and elevated me to become President and CEO. So, it’s time to give a fond farewell to” Captain Kirk” and hello to “Captain Janeway”. (I know, I’m mixing my StartTrek references, but just go with me.)

So, as the new Captain, I’d like to introduce myself, since during my five years with Veracity, as CFO and, more recently, COO, I didn’t get much exposure to the outside world.

My career started out longer ago than I’d care to admit as a strategy consultant with Bain and Company, and later Marakon Associates, authors of Value Based Management (VBM). I have over 20 years’ experience in C-level positions in a variety of industries from heavy manufacturing to software and professional services, ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 1000 firms. Along the way, I have taken some interesting detours that include running a non-profit to help low income women develop job skills, becoming a Theory of Constraints Jonah, performing operations and turnaround consulting, and bringing a historic woolen mill back from bankruptcy. In my spare time, I also raised five children to become reasonably productive adults.

Over time, I’ve realized that my personal mission is to help individuals and organizations achieve their full potential. Just ask any of the Veracity team. They’ll tell you I’m relentless in pursuit of that goal.

So enough about me. Let’s talk about Veracity.

If you’re a longtime friend of Veracity, it’s important to know that Galen is not gone. His role has changed, along with his method of influencing the organization. He will continue to provide input and thought leadership as Board Chairman, and he will certainly remain interested in your and our success. He has demonstrated his faith in our leadership team, and Veracity’s future, by handing over the Con (as in, “I’m going to beam down to the surface. You have the Con, Number One.”)

Like most successful founders, Galen realized that for Veracity to achieve its full potential, there would come a time when we needed to move from a founder-led business model, to a more scalable leadership-team based business. We have been moving toward this transition since the senior leadership team was formed in 2013. Beginning in late 2016, we took responsibility for running the business while Galen got back into the field directly driving a client transformation (something he loves doing). And so far, we’ve been doing well. 2017 is shaping up to be a great year.

Looking to the future….

    • We continue to be committed to growing personally and professionally while working together to create superior client value, with amazing people and teams, in a vibrant culture.

    • We are dedicated to continuing Veracity’s longstanding tradition of generating strong client value through helping solve critical challenges in product strategy, design, Agile, architecture, user experience and development.

    • We will continue to offer a variety of service levels, including leading organizational transformations and providing expert consultants for staff augmentation in essential skill areas such as product management, architecture and Agile.

    • We will also continue to emphasize our unique Blendsourcing™ approach of working within client teams to blend our skills with yours to accelerate product development, improve performance, shorten time-to-market, and increase team and individual performance.

In future CEO’s Corners, we’ll discuss each of these commitments, as well as other key lessons we’re learning along the way. And, we’d love to have you join us, as we” boldly go…….”

Until next time.
