Problem:

A large value-based healthcare provider was facing a deadline for a critical customer-facing application that needed modernization to make use of the AWS cloud. After analyzing the current infrastructure and weighing migration options, a hybrid approach was needed using re-architecture on the front end with middleware and a retain strategy on the data tier.

How Veracity Solutions Helped the Team Achieve its Goal:

Working alongside the Healthcare Provider’s existing team, Veracity consultants provided technical guidance and assisted in the buildout of the various environments. Together they used IAC on AWS utilizing CloudFormation, Atlassian BitBucket, Atlassian Bamboo, and several customized scripts to enable a fully automated CI/CD process for infrastructure, environments and applications. Veracity also used a combination of micro-service containers using ECS, implemented innovative use of routing using modern ALBs, and created a sustainable model for multi-tenant hosting while utilizing security best practices with encryption in transit and at rest.

During the course of several months, the Veracity team provided education on application modernization and principle training through Lunch and Learn events for the value-based healthcare provider’s employees. They also provided training on modern cloud-based architectural best practices, DevOps best practices, and micro-service design principles.

Once the work was complete and the applications were released for on-time production, Veracity consultants provided knowledge transfer guidance on the AWS infrastructure

Outcome:

The results of the Veracity engagement include:

  • More modernized Development stack and CI/CD pipeline that has been used as a model for other component buildouts.
  • Architectural patterns and templates to enable continued development in the cloud utilizing industry best practices.
  • The healthcare provider was able to meet their customer timelines and was set up for future success on those applications because of the new advanced technology and software delivery process.
